“We need to be more grateful. There is no
true character without gratitude. To have feelings of
thanksgiving and gratitude for blessings is one of the marks of
a strong character. We need more of that spirit in our homes and
our daily associations.”

What: Kiwanis Club of La Canada is providing the Thanksgiving Turkeys…with YOUR help!

POVERTY and HUNGER: a bad combination for the more than 850
million people in the world. Every eight seconds malnutrition
ends the life of a child. Every day 11,000 children die. Hunger
In Los Angeles county affects over 200,000 low-income adults.
Skid Row’s Midnight Mission will hold its annual Thanksgiving
Celebration on Thanksgiving Day, November 27 between 10:00AM and
2:00PM, or until everyone is fed.
Every year the Midnight Mission serves thousands of men, women
and children on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. This Year,
Kiwanis Club of La Canada is providing ALL of the Thanksgiving
Turkeys…with YOUR help! ☺

The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents.”
It was coined from an American Indian expression, Nunc Kee-wanis.
Doing what we can, and giving what we have to help others is
what we Kiwanians believe in.
Thanksgiving is a time for giving from the heart. It also offers
a wonderful opportunity to remember the things in our lives for
which we are grateful, and to practice having what some have
called "an attitude of gratitude.” Once we purchase the Turkeys,
we will have them delivered to the Midnight Mission in time for
Thanksgiving Dinner. We are grateful for this opportunity to
make a difference in the lives of others!

Thanksgiving experience with a heaping portion of generosity and
gratitude. When you sit down to your Thanksgiving dinner and

you’ll know that thousands of men, women, AND CHILDREN are also
enjoying a warm Thanksgiving meal… BECAUSE OF YOU!
Thank you for joining with us in our dedication to changing the
world, one child and one community at a time.
