7th Annual All-American Soap Box Derby
Greater Los Angeles Championship

RACE DAY IS May 27, 2006
Weigh-in/Inspection the afternoon before

he 7th Annual Greater Los Angeles All-American Soap Box Derby RACE DAY is, May 27, 2006, the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, in La Cañada Flintridge, CA. This will be a "licensed local" race, sanctioned by the world-famous All-American Soap Box Derby of Akron, Ohio. The winners of this  race will represent Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Kern and San Luis Obispo counties in the 69th All-American Soap Box Derby National Championships in July in Akron Ohio.  All kids that meet the age requirements from these counties are welcome to race (there are usually about the same number of boys and girls in the race).

Since 1934, the All-American Soap Box Derby has grown into a very popular sport and an American tradition. It affords families an opportunity to bond with their kids as they build and race their own cars, working together to meet the challenge of gravity racing.  Rally races are also scheduled throughout Southern California from September through June.

Once again the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada and the California Family Soap Box Derby Association, will join forces to host this event, the largest official All-American Soap Box Derby event in greater Los Angeles. The race will be divided into three separate divisions, Stock, Super Stock and Masters.  The winners of these three divisions will go to Akron (with financial support from the race sponsors).

For the last three Years the two clubs hosted the Greater Los Angeles All-American Soap Box Derby event.  Click Here to see Pictures from the Soap Box Derby of prior years.
