The Prez sez . . .

“      A life not lived for others is not a life.”  John Wooden

Thanks to the Club Members who joined forces to find a new meeting location for us today, and more thanks to Pastor Johnson for letting us meet at the Lutheran Church and to Dick Barley of the AM Club for making the connection.

An updated list of committes and committee chairmen and committee members is available.

A Kiwanis International meeting will be held in San Diego on February 4th for Dunlap awards.

Remember February 12th.  It's the second annual Day at the Races.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Carlos Cortez invited Club members to a Boy Scout Sports Breakfast at Santa Anita.  There are 12 free tickets available.  A sports celebrity will make a presentation and then a large contribution.  Carlos admitted that although the breakfast will be free, the Boy Scouts are hoping attendees will make a contribution.

FROSTY’S SLA REPORT

Karl Johnson's mom died, and there was a card for everyone to sign.

THE PROGRAM

Ed Moulton introduced Steve Chase, director of the twelve lovely Flintridge Prep Chamber Singers.  Steve introduced their pianist, Bill Schmidt.  The concert had a lot of variety and was very enjoyable.  Here are some the song titles:  How Can I Keep from Singing; Mrs. Santa Claus (solo), Monotone Angel; and Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind (Shakespeare) - which was composed by Dr. Robert Penke (sp?), a Flintridge Prep faculty member.  We ended by singing a number of Christmas carols together.

HAPPY & SAD BUCKS

Patsy Christenson  …  was Happy she is up and about just three weeks after her hip replacement surgery.  She had many thanks for all the support she received from Club members and was Happy she survived Frosty's jokes.

Steve Hagerty  …  was Happy he won the 50/50 lottery at the InterClub with the AM Kiwanis, but was Sad there was only $1 in the pot.

Dick Barley …  was Happy that the Kiwanis AM Club is allowed to meet at the Lutheran Church each week and was Happy that Pastor Bruce Johnson is so helpful.

Hal Crockett … was Happy their granddaughter Katy will be coming to visit..

Clyde Hemphill … had a Happy Buck for all the members who helped move all our "stuff" to the new meeting site.

Matt Regan … was Happy so many members have contributed money to the Toy Drive and he has about $900.  He wants to be able to send a check for $1,000 and encouraged those who had not made a contribution to do so ASAP.

Daryal Gant … was Happy his wife wasn't at the meeting ... because she was entertaining their grandchildren who are in town and celebrating her birthday.

Diane DellaValle … was Happy to have both of her granddaughters, Yvonne and Riley, attending the meeting with her.

Jim Edwards … had twenty Happy Bucks because 1) USC has had such a string of victories, 2) USC will still be undefeated on January 4th, and 3) of Daryal's tacky e-mail.

Frosty Boyd … was Happy he could sneak in some holiday dining tips under the guise of a Happy Buck.  He was also Happy to be celebrating his 63rd wedding anniversary on the shortest day and longest night of the year.

Al Restivo … was Happy about Daryal's e-mail.

Doris Horwith … was Happy her granddaughter is going to USC and dating the roomate of Reggie Bush.
