An overflow
crowd graced the confines of our meeting room on a beautiful
spring day among the spectacular blooming tulips of
Descanso Gardens. The 21 guests including inter-clubs from
Eagle Rock, Montrose-La Crescenta, and Glendale, were in a
frivolous mood as they eagerly awaited today’s Talent Show.
The roar of the crowd almost drowned out the melodies of
Martha Crockett at the keyboard.

LIGHTS!
CAMERA! ACTION!!!!!!!
IT WAS TALENT SHOW TIME UNDER
THE DIRECTION OF THAT 89 YEAR OLD YOUNGSTER ED MOULTON ……….
WITH ANTHONY PORTANTINO AS THE MASTER OF CEREMONIES

Master of Cermonies, Mayor Anthony Portantino
What An
Event!!!
First off was
Martha Crockett who
performed a rousing rendition of Bumble Boogie (Boy can she
rock!)

Martha Crockett
Next was
Pat Anderson who
was a stand up comedian with some “quickie’ jokes.
Number three on the program was “The
Verdugo Hillbillies” performing “Wreck on the Highway”. The
lead singer was our own Prez
Daryal Gant who sang (like a wreck) and strummed
the mandolin as Frosty
played the saw, Bob Wallace
strummed the washtub bass,
Dick DeGrey on the
harmonica, and Jack Dawson
on the guitar (also trying to sing to an off key Daryal).

Verdugo Hillbillies
Frosty, Daryal, Dick, Jack and Bob
In a solo performance
Bachy Bachmayer did
a vocal solo (on key) of “Lydia the Tatooed Lady” (an
outstanding performance as he said this song has been going
through his mind for 70 years)

This was followed by the “Harriet
Hammons Trio”. Three sexy ladies who wiggled their
tousch’s and vibrated to the “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of
Company B” as they mimicked the Andrew Sisters (only mature
Kiwanians can remember them), This was fantastically performed
by Harriet, Diane DellaValle, & Mary Gant. (Eds note: This was my
favorite.. a 10!)

Harriet, Diane, and Mary
Although a hard act to follow Ed Moulton
and friends (Al Perry Sr.,
Elizabeth Georgeon, Mark Alexander, and
delivered
a never before rendition by 6 players at the same time of
Chopsticks on the piano. (What talent!)

Next
Daryal
Gant did a few stand up
jokes at the expense of ED
Moulton.
A Barbershop SEXtet with
Jack Dawson, Ed Moulton, Al
Perry Sr.,Charles Broberg, Ken Lowe, and
Karen Kimbrough
(borrowed from the LCPC choir) did a bang up job on two
numbers and even tried to lead us on another number (with not
much success) and they were accompanied on the Saw by
Frosty Boyd.

Barbershop Sextet
A GREAT
EVENT!! WITH MUCH THANKS TO ED MOULTON.
We barely had enough breath left to sing
“Hail Kiwanis” with an on-time close.
