Lunch Meeting at Descanso
The Prez sez . . .
President DARYL GANT began our meeting
with congratulations to our member, ANTHONY PORTANTINO, as our
new mayor
ANTHONY, in turn, made a
tribute to outgoing Mayor LAURA OLHASSO, saying that it would
be easy to follow her good leadership.
ANTHONY then contributed
$100 (our "Century Club") for his having become mayor of our
city..
Once
again, our fearless leader, Prez DARYL, admonished those who
may come in late. Another warning, ladies and gentlemen!

THE
PROGRAM
In her "State of the
City" presentation, outgoing Mayor LAURA OLHASSO reviewed the
highlights of activities and events in our town over the past
year.
She noted that the city
budget was satisfactory, not counting the sewer funding and
she mentioned a 'cost guarantee against State encroachment of
City
funds.' LAURA stressed
the positive accomplishments in our community by the City
recreation department, especially with 'an extremely active
youth council.'
She took pride in the
city's working together with the School District and in the
sharing of Lanterman Auditorium. Her remarks summarized the
good things
about our city,
although she did refer to our recent 'crime wave' yet added
success in abating that problem. Public construction, plans
for sound walls, and
details involving some
detailed overviews of La Cañada were offered with an
impressive list of accomplishments. She ended her talk by
mentioning that the City staff has received several
outstanding awards. Thanks to LAURA OLHASSO for her cogent
report on our community.
HAPPY AND SAD BUCKS:

together.
