The Prez sez . . .

  • Congratulations to Dave Spence for his landslide victory in the City Council election on Tuesday.  This will be Dave’s fourth term and is a clear mandate to keep on doing whatever it is he is doing.

  • From last weeks Board meeting. The Club will accept credit cards for the Gourmet Wine and Food Tasting.  This event, to be held on September 25, 2005, is our major fund raiser for the year and will include a silent auction.  So bring your favorite bit of plastic and spend wildly, the Foundation needs the money.

  • Also from the Board meeting, Howard Backer is the Point of Contact for the Caterer.  If you have a compliment or a complaint about the Caterer, please let Howard have it.

  • Jack Dawson recently donated a sports car to the Club.  The car was a replica of a vintage Bentley.  The car has now been sold and will net approximately $4000 to the Kiwanis Foundation.   Many thanks to Jack and Barbara for their continuing generosity to Kiwanis and to the community.

“Quote”

  5. Paul Westmoreland was pleased with the Interclub they had this week with the Montrose La Crescenta Club and is planning an additional Interclub to be held very soon even though he is leaving town.

  6. Bachy let us know that we still had an opportunity to contribute to Childrens Hospital by slipping a few coins and/or bills into the ubiquitous buckets on our tables.

FROSTY’S SLA REPORT

Frosty was very happy to see both Joel Smith and Dick DeGrey in attendance and reminded everyone to give Pat Flynn a call.
