OPENING: Shirley DeGrey entertained us with show tunes. Pres Bob gonged us to order, and Ed Moulton led us in yet another rendition of America the Beautiful. Yours truly led us in the Flag Salute, and Barry Riedel led the invocation with a very right-on prayer.

HEAD TABLE & GUESTS: Guests included Hal's favorite piano player, Dick's favorite piano player, Pat Flynn's wife, Joyce, and Ken Lowe's wife, Marge

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Ed Moulton announced that Bob Slattery passed away this past weekend and was finally at peace and free from pain. A memorial service will be held for Bob Slattery at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 30; Karl Johnson reminded everyone to bring empty printer cartridges to help raise money for Pediatric Trauma. Someone commented that his announcement was short but very important. Jack Dawson quipped "Just like me: Short but very important!" Karl Johnson also announced that Division 3 of the Key Clubs is conducting a money-raising car wash on Saturday, July 19 at Holy Family School, corner of Lomita & Louise, 400 E. Lomita, Glendale, from 11 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The money raised will go to our Pediatric Trauma Project, so please go get your car washed!

BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES & STUFF: Joel Smith joined the Century Club. Hal Thomas contributed $82; Hal Crockett joined the Century Club. Anniversaries: Mel Wilson said his old gal was worth a buck a year and gave $54. People started paying to tell accordion jokes in honor of our upcoming program. Things disintegrated from there. Jack Dawson pointed out that an engineer is a guy who knows 100 ways to do a thing but doesn't know any women. It was downhill from there. Those of us who weren't telling jokes were praying that the folks from Foothill Summer Theatre were all adults.

Fines: Various people gave happy, sad, and speaking bucks.

PROGRAM: Daryal Gant introduced Melinda Gillman, Choreographer of the Foothill Summer Theatre. Linda gave a fascinating history and background of the organization and then introduced the members who were part of an absolutely fabulous program.

CLOSING: "Hail to Kiwanis"
