OPENING: The time has come the walrus said, to talk of many things, of ships and shoes and ceiling wax and Martha Crockett on the piano strings. On cue "Mr. Ed" Moulton orchestrated us through another rendition of "God Bless America".

HEAD TABLE & GUESTS: Gracing the head table were Joel Smith, who led our flag salute and Diane DellaValle who presented a warming invocation. Other than Pres Bob the balance of the table was empty as our 25 member program wouldn't fit there. Our first guest, introduced by the Montrose/La Crescenta Kiwanis President Bob Peterson, was Wes Johnson; Daryal Gant introduced for the last time, Lloyd Welch who was to be inducted as a member today. Dick DeGrey introduced wife Shirley and Hal Crockett had us say a "hey" to Martha. "Terrific Kids" from Palm Crest School were introduced by Ken Lowe, they were Casey Stewart and her Mom Meredith Fox; Riley Heaton and his Mom Meredie; Whitney Crossley and his Mom Tracy; Ben Kellogg and his Mom Lisa. "Three Cheers" for these Terrific Kids. Ken then put on his other hat and had us meet three Key Clubbers; Justin, Greg, and Christine.

INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBER: One of the longest introductions in recent history greeted Lloyd Welch as a new member who was installed by Paul Westmoreland. This was followed by "You're In Kiwanis now".

REPORT OF NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Was presented by Joel Smith: President Jim Ackland, President Elect Daryal Gant, Vice President Sheila Cook, Secretary & Treasurer Howard Backer. Directors: Diane DellaValle, Clyde Hemphill, Paul Westmoreland & Bill Watts. A unanimous vote was cast for all.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Pres Bob announced that both our club and the A.M. club and the Rotary Club were sponsoring the next Mixer that will be at Memorial Park and it will be an emergency preparedness program with demonstrations. He also said to sign up for the YMCA Prayer breakfast on Friday. Paul Westmoreland talked about the Soap Box Derby and urged all who do not have a specific assignment to attend and help out. He then presented the standings of our Membership Conference with Daryal Gant's conference in the lead. Carl Christensen said he needs help to man the hamburger booth at the Fiesta Days picnic and urged all to sign up now. Diane DellaValle announced the "Dine Around" Pot Luck dinner to be held on May 31st in 6 members homes. The host member will provide one entr‚e and each attendee will provide one potluck item to serve 8-10. The idea is to get to know each other better and each home will be mixed with new and old members. A sign up sheet was handed around, if you weren't there check with Diane to get on the list. This sounds like a fun event! Bachy Bachmayer asked all to support the Children's Hospital tubs on the tables, Daryal Gant told of upcoming programs.

HAPPY BUCKS, B.S, & STUFF: Not much time for this today but Frosty Boyd told a doctor's joke and Joan Peters put in bucks for the great slate of new officers for next year; Don Davidson put in $5 happy bucks for his friend whom he hopes will be winning an upcoming director's award.

50/50 RAFFLE: Won by new member Jeannie Scheinhorn

THE PROGRAM: Wow! What a fun program and as I overhead Frosty say " it was great for soothing the gastric juices". Twenty-Five (count 'em 25) lovely, well trimmed women in matching black dresses and necklaces, preformed six musical numbers. The newly formed Foothill Women's Chorus with Lois Johnson as its musical director were a smash hit. The tone quality was wonderful and they seemed to enjoy it as much as we did. A great program!

CLOSING: "Hail Kiwanis" directed by Ed Moulton

Thought For The Day: "Every now and again take a good look at something not made with hands
------A mountain, a star, the turn of a stream.
There will come to you wisdom and patience and solace
And above all,
The assurance that you are not alone in the world"
--Sidney Lovett
