OPENING: Friends, Romans, & Kiwanians, lend me your ears to indulge in the piano artistry of Martha Crocket as she magically produced exotic sounds for the soul. The magic continued as Edgar L. Moulton dazzled us with his dramatic leadership as we belted out "God Bless America" which included the meaningful prelude.

HEAD TABLE & GUESTS: Mel Wilson helped us salute our flag and Frosty Boyd presented the invocation. Also at the head table, besides Pres Bob, was Daryal Gant, City Manager Jerry Fulwood & Mayor Dave Spence. Guests of the club were numerous, there was Ann Wilson & Phil Cook (City staff) and guests of Jerry Fulwood who also introduced the Mayors wife, Alice Spence; Vernon Chase, a guest of Bob Slattery; Chuck Carder, a guest of Bob Martin; Anthony Portantino introduced Laura Olhasso and Greg Brown, our two new City Council members; Ed Moulton's guest was Frank Higgins of the Nestle Co; Clyde Hemphill brought us his long time friend Bill Purdy; Harold Arman introduced Don Mazen and his guest Bryan Herrmann; third time attendee Sookie Mathews was presented by Diane DellaValle; Key Clubbers Katie Barry, Kristen Bruer & Nicole Fodran were welcomed by Ken Lowe; "Terrific Kids" from LC Elementary and their parents were announced by Pat Flynn who told us why they were Terrific; also guests were Bruce Campbell of the News-Press and Shirley DeGrey & Martha Crockett. Led by " Mr. Ed" we scared the guests with our rendition of "Hi Neighbor".

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Pres Bob praised the lonely 4 members who showed up for Total K day last Saturday, Paul Westmoreland said he needs help on the Soap Box Derby, see him for administrative help and Joel Smith to help with the physical part. Paul also told us about our membership campaign and had each League President tell how they were doing; Daryal Gant told us of upcoming programs for the next two weeks, Jim Ackland praised all those who have signed up for tonight's inter-club with Eagle Rock.

HAPPY, SAD, GLAD ETC. BUCKS, BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSAIRES: First out of the box was George Lutes who joined the Century Club for his Birthday and next was Dr. Allan Perry Sr. who also joined the Century Club, Clyde Hemphill popped in bucks as he was happy his wife was back home after a 24 day trip to all sorts of places, Anthony Portantino celebrated his 13th Wedding Anniversary, Hal Arman put in a happy buck because his new dog only chewed up one person last week, Daryal Gant dropped in happy bucks for his trip to Mill Valley, and friendly Frosty Boyd put in happy bucks for all the City Staff that was in attendance and of course a "God Sent" joke. Fines were levied for no pins and no shaking.

50/50 RAFFLE: Again won by "Mr. Lucky" Daryal Gant

SECRET GREETER: Was Frank Williams

THE PROGRAM: The Mayor of La Cañada Flintridge (and our Club member) Dave Spence & City Manager Jerry Fulwood (also our Club member) were introduced by Anthony Portantino (who was out of character as he had a suit on to honor the Mayor). He told us that Dave Spence is a third time Mayor and holds this distinction with only 3 other mayors. Dave has been on the City Council since 1992 and is really "into his job". A "show & tell" slide presentation, with both Dave & Jerry participating, told us of the "State of Our City", which is good. It was hard to believe how many different improvement projects are going on (or have been completed) including the installation of sewers. Our finances are in good shape but could be hurt if what's his name the Governor reduces the city's share of vehicle license fees. Von's market has applied to the City to renovate their store and the newly built St. Francis and St. Bedes facilities are looking good. A very educational presentation.
