Past Pres Pat Anderson for the super job she did with the Christmas Party.

5pm.
NO TIME FOR HAPPY BUCKS, ET.AL: And no fines or secret "shaker" either.
50/50 RAFFLE: This time Diane DellaValle was wide awake as she announced she won almost before the number was called.
THE PROGRAM: Introduced by Daryal Gant was the Senator from our 21st District,
Senator Jack Scott. The Senator's district has over 1 million people and extends from Pasadena in the East to North Hollywood on the West, La Cañada on the North to Eagle Rock and parts of L.A. on the south. Sen. Jack was born in Sweetwater, Texas and the son of a tractor salesman. He is blessed with 5 children and 9 grandchildren. He has a B.A. degree from Abilene Christian College, a Master of Divinity from Yale, and a PHD in American History from Claremont. His background is almost as impressive as his subject, "The American Constitution". His story about how our constitution has prevailed after 215 years was most impressive and one of its basic premises is "you can't give anyone too much power".
CLOSING: A rousing "Hail Kiwanis" was sung by all, under "Mr. Ed's" direction.
INTER CLUB HAPPENINGS: Seven (7) courageous Kiwanians attended the Flintridge Prep Key Club meeting at 2:30 P.M. last Thursday as an interclub. To be there would make you proud of the youth of today. The community service projects they are doing are beyond belief. They fed (and cooked) Thanksgiving dinner for over 300 homeless people among other projects. Their sophistication is better than most college students (and a lot of adults). We proudly salute the Flintridge Prep Key Club.
P.S.: Don't forget the next interclub with the Pasadena Kiwanis Club's "International President's Interclub Luncheon" on January 2nd, 12 Noon to 2 P.M. You must reserve before December 27th and the Club will bill you.
CHRISTMAS CAPERS: We had our annual Christmas Party (naturally it's annual because Christmas comes but once a year) at the beautiful home of
Dr. Paul & Beverly Toffel's majestic & magnificent estate. The graciousness of the
Toffel's makes one feel so welcome and "at home". We thank them so much for extending Kiwanians the use of their fine home. We nibbled exotic appetizers, salads, ham & turkey and yummy desserts, imbibed in beverages that bedazzled, and of course under the direction of "Mr. Ed", sang Christmas songs. A fine time (burp) was had by all. And special news that happened at the party, which some of you may have been partying too hard to hear, was
Jeb Long's announcement of his engagement to Marilyn
Pieroni. Our congratulations to them both.
YOUR EDITOR GOOFED AGAIN!: It looks like I tried to bring in another "phantom" member by addressing
Karl Johnson as Karl Anderson. Sorry about that Karl. You will be pleased to know (I hope) that
George Lucas has left the club to be replaced by George
Lutes. But now I'm told I dubbed Jim Ackland to be Jim Ackerman, sorry about that Jim, and
Al Restivo was so "unglued" about my botching up his name he wrote me a letter. So now I know for sure what I've always suspected "I'm not perfect"!
AND SPEAKING OF GOOFS: When do YOU get your newsletter? I've had reports from some of you that you are getting newsletters as late as 3 weeks that may be delivered with your current newsletter. This is a Post Office Goof and I would like to correct it as much skill? and effort is put forth to get you the newsletter BEFORE the next meeting. Do we have your zip code correct? Maybe the extra routing numbers after your code would help. Please report late newsletters to me with the date received marked on them. Thanks for you help...
Our next (and last of the year) meeting:
December 18th: on this, our last regular meeting of the year, "The Flintridge Prep Singers" will entertain us. We thank
Ed Moulton for arranging this program, which we got a preview of at the last travelogue.
