Today it was Shirley DeGrey on the ivories with music of the 1940's. Such talent!!

President Pat Anderson called the meeting to order with Ed Moulton leading the group in the singing of God Bless America. This was followed by Linda Billheimer leading the pledge and Phil Hammons doing the invocation. Pat introduced the head table: Linda Billheimer, Phil Hammons, Pat Liddell, Lt Governor, Division 3; Tom Burrows, today's program; Jim Ackland, Pat Flynn and Tom Slaughter.

Introductions: Palm Crest Terrific Kids and their parents - Derek Johannsen/Brian and Sherry; A. J. Rawls/John and Kathy; Tyler Roche/Dennis and Cynthia. LCHS Key Club members: Sue Park, Andrew Porter and Phyllis Kim. Mel Wilson introduced Bob Holst and Pat Anderson presented Karen Poindexter from La Cañada Books and Toys. Pat Flynn presented them with gift certificates to La Cañada Books and Toys.

Induction of New Member: Ed Moulton introduced Jeb Long along with sponsor Daryl Gant. Lt Governor Pat Liddell formally welcomed Jeb into Kiwanis and presented him with the current Division Pin. Ed Moulton explaining the duties and responsibilities of becoming a member of this club and qualifying for his permanent badge followed this. Jeb is a developer of Computer Software. He will tell you more when he does his Craft Talk.

Happy/Sad Bucks: Jack Dawson happy to have attended the wedding of Tom Sleeman; Tom Slaughter sad/happy that he needs to correct his title to Webmaster and that he needs to have some slaves to help with that Website. Barry Reidel happy to report that Harold Arman is coming along following surgery; Frosty Boyd happy to report that Bob Slattery is progressing slow but sure; and then a story about reindeer, antlers and all those females flying Santa around the world in 24 hours. A happy buck (?) from Joel Smith for having joined Tom Slaughter's Membership Club; Pat Liddell happy to have inducted a new member; Bob Wallace had a great time in Italy and sorry(?) he missed Pat Anderson's installation. Don Corbett happy for a trip to the Wine Country; Melinda Thompson delighted to hear from husband that they have a beautiful new grandson. Doris Horwith happy to announce that Carol Liu has designated her as Small Business Woman of the Year. All honorees will be feted at a luncheon next Thursday at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. Congratulations Doris.

Installation of President-Elect: Since Bob Wallace missed the installation dinner this was the time for him to formally accept his responsibilities. Pat Liddell had a number of admonitions as did President Pat who made some sort of veiled threat about wearing your Kiwanis pin next week.

Legion of Honor Pins: Lt Governor Liddell presented Legion of Honor Pins is recognition to 25 years of Kiwanis Membership to Don Corbett and Alan Perry, Sr. Pete Palermo also received a 25 year pin as a past president.

Announcements: Jay Rabadi joined the Century Club in honor of celebrating their 36th wedding anniversary. Derek Johannsen, Terrific Kid, won the raffle and will have some extra bucks to spend at La Cañada Books and Toys. The Travelogue Program is now being designed. Advertising will be $50 or a "Business Card" or multiple thereof. This is ideal for self-employed members, but also for those with whom you occasionally do business. Call Ed M. at 790-2111.

Program: Jim Ackland introduced Tom Burrows , local resident, who has also been a professor at CSUN in TV Arts and Sciences. Tom is a talented musician. He entertained the group with songs of the 50's such as Deep Purple, Stardust, Time on My Hands, etc.

Next Week: Next weeks program will be Linda Prosser on "Discovering Trees". At the head table will be; Invocation - Hal Crockett, Flag Salute - Bob Wallace, Program - Jim Ackland, Speaker - Linda Prosser, Kiwanian - Daryal Gant, Kiwanian - Paul Westmoreland.
