THE PROGRAM
Pasadena
Tournament of Roses.
On Wednesday
Dec 23, 2009 Dan Farwell brought the 2010 Tournament of Roses
ROYAL COURT to Kiwanis, escorted by James Jones and Karyn
Grimes. Dan presented us with the Queen: Natalie Innocenzi and
five of her six Royal Court; Princess Ashley Thaxton, Princess
Katie Hernandez, Princess June Ko, Princess Michele Van Wyk and
Princess Kinsey Stuart. Princess Lauren Rogers was not present
as she was attending a prior commitment.

Every
September nearly 1,000 young women vie for the honor of riding
the float carrying the Royal Court - participating in a
month-long interview process designed to find those participants
with the right combination of poise, personality, public
speaking ability and scholastic achievement. After extensive
interviews, the girls are whiddled down to the top 26 and when
it's all over, a Rose Queen and six Rose Princesses will reign
over the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game, which will be seen by
more than 93,000 in-person spectators and millions of television
viewers. They will attend nearly 150 public and media functions
during their year in the spotlight, spreading the word about the
Tournament and Pasadena wherever they go.
The first
Rose Queen was crowned in 1905 and ever year since 1929, Rose
Queens and Rose Princesses have been part of the Tournament of
Roses. This year’s Rose Queen will be the 92nd young
woman to serve in this traditional role.
Each young
women of the 2010 Rose Court took turns addressing Kiwanis and
it was obvious why they were selected. They were all poised,
graceful, eloquent and humble. The Queen and the Princesses said
they were among 26 women who were all were perfectly qualified
to serve on the Royal Court, they were honored and humbled by
the experience, and excited about the new “sisterhood” this
experience has created.
