THE PROGRAM

Jim Stratton gave the most adept introduction of a guest that I have ever heard… he did it without notes! No wonder he is Superintendent of Schools. He is brilliant!

Jim announced Steve Nully of the Humane Society, who is often referred to as “The Leader of The Pack.” He graduated from Arcadia and went to Cal Poly. He served as a Naturalist, Conservation Officer and now is the President of the Sate Humane Association of California.

Steve gave us an interesting slide show presentation with numerous facts that were unbeknownst to many of us:

The Humane Society used to help adopt out children, one of the 1st fundraisers was to put fountains in Pasadena for horses, cats & dogs to drink. One of the fountains still stands at the Northeast corner of Central Park.

Once the Pasadena Humane Society (PHS) was called to return a runaway WIFE and children to her husband!

PHS serves half a million people and approx 250,000 dogs & cats.

They rescue Peacocks and relocate them to northern California where they halo the farmers chase away coyotes.

The PHS rescues not only dogs and cats but also Possum, Baby Deer, Raccoons, and a 6ft Alligator! They also save drunken birds that fall from trees.
