HAPPY AND SAD BUCKS

Fred Schooley gave a happy buck for getting a tax refund.

Carl Christensen gave a happy buck

Clyde Hemphill gave a sad buck and announced he will be taking a 3 month leave of absence for personal reasons – we will miss you Clyde.

Pat Anderson gave 5 happy bucks for the outstanding leadership of Mayor Olhasso and the La Canada City Council in the wake of the accident last week and for their tireless efforts to make our streets safer.

THE PROGRAM

Bill Watts was our Program Chair.

This week we were pleased to welcome back Rody Stephenson.  Rody joined us back in January and gave us a very passionate presentation on Wagner’s four famous Ring Operas.  This week he was here to give us his views on a very different subject matter – he told us about the potential role of hydrogen fuel cell cars.

He was selected by GM to drive an experimental Equinox for a two month period for evaluation.  He provided the club with his personal views on the vehicle, hydrogen fuel and the role he thinks they will play in the future. Overall he has enjoyed driving the car. It is very “peppy” with good accelerating power and is fully appointed with all the latest gadgets including On Star and a navigation system. The downside – not enough fueling stations available and the range is too short – current range is about 60 miles. He does believe hydrogen and electric vehicles are a good policy for the post fossil fuel era.

For more details on the Equinox and how you might be able to participate in the program, go to chevy.com and click on “Fuel Solutions.”
