Today
was Ed Moulton Appreciation Day, and there were 152 enthusiastic
fans in attendance. The centerpieces were beautiful, with
potted yellow Daisies and a two-sided placard in the center with
various photos of Ed’s life rising above the flowers,
courtesy of Cory Stevens.

Our Guest of Honor led us in
God Bless America, and his daughter, Susan Johnson, led the Flag
Salute.

Carl then introduced each Interclub that was
represented, a spokesperson from each club introduced their
other guests. This was with the exception of La Canada AM, and
because there were 40 members from their club present, Vince
Feehan asked them all to stand and say their names
simultaneously, which brought the house down. The clubs
represented were as follows:

Master of Ceremonies
President-Elect Nick Berkuta then shared Ed’s biography
from the podium, all the while showing a “This is Your Life”
slide show on the big screen. Included in the presentation were
Ed’s Kiwanis accomplishments, as follows:

Ed Joined Kiwanis Club of La
Cañada (Noon) February 1952, sponsored by Rev. Dave Burcham,
Pastor, La Cañada Presbyterian Church. He is a Kiwanis Life
Member.

At the District Level, he
served as District Song Master 1997-98. He became a Kiwanis
Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation William A. Dunlap Fellow, and received the
Bert Shoemaker District Award 2002.
At the Division 3 Level, Ed
served as Lieutenant Governor 1989-90, as well as the Division
Chorus Leader.

Additionally, he served as the
La Cañada Club President in 1959, received the Gil Smith
Service Award in 1977, served as Membership Chair in 2000-01.
He sponsored 108 new members into Kiwanis!

Master of
Ceremonies Nick then introduced Tom Burrows who
gave a personal testimonial about his long relationship with
Ed, first meeting him when he and his wife joined La Canada
Presbyterian Church and the choir, led by Mr. Moulton. We then
sang For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow, and Ed thanked
everyone for coming, remarking that he was overwhelmed by it
all.

that the person at each table whose birthday is the nearest to
Ed’s March 20 can take the centerpiece.
The committee who organized the
event was acknowledged and given a round of applause:
We closed the event with a song
that Ed wrote: Come On Kiwanis, led
by Ed and Tom Burrows.
