MUSIC
After leading us in “My Country tis of Thee,” Tom Burrows
reminded us that the song was written by Samuel Francis
Smith to the tune of “God Save the Queen,” which is the
British National anthem. He then read the words to the
second, third, and forth verses. Ed Moulton led all the
other songs.
Joan Peters led us in the Flag Salute.
Linda Magarian announced a
new fun way we could get to know each other better. Each
meeting a member will have a spotlight on them (after
agreeing to participate) and will tell a brief story about
something that happened to them or perhaps something about
themselves that no one in the club knows. As an example,
Linda related a story about getting her arm caught in the
wringer of her mother’s washing machine when she was a
little girl. The “real” spotlight was on Mary Gant, who
also related a childhood story.

THE
PROGRAM

Brigitte
Benchino.
The
program was presented by an author of children’s books,
Brigitte Benchino. She
told the story of Jadyn and the Magic Bubble from her book
by the same name. The book cleverly introduces the reader
to geography, social studies, history, math, multi-cultural
relationships, cooking, spirituality, and more. She has
found it very popular with children from first through sixth
grade, a wide audience.
