ANNOUNCEMENTS

Howard Backer—asked that we give to the doctor’s program.

Mary Gant—Wine & Gourmet Food tasting is coming up in September. She and Clyde Hemphill will chair this year. There will be lots of opportunities to volunteer.

Mary Gant—says there is a new program for students. To hear more about it go to the First Congregational Church on February 17th at 7:00. 

Carlos Cortez—Sports Breakfast on February 19th to help the Boy Scouts. It is at 7:00 at Santa Anita track.

Nick Berkuta—March 25th the talk will be the Lt. Governor who survived the Northridge train crash. If you can’t make that, he will also talk at the interclub in Glendale this Friday.

Nick Berkuta—Annual appreciation day of Ed Moulton is March 25th at 11:45. Please sign up.

Pat Glynn—reading program at Union Ave Elementary—they are going tomorrow.

Wendy Smith—said she had been to the reading program and it was very rewarding.

Clyde Hemphill—the soapbox derby is coming up May 30th. They need a director.

Frosty Boyd—SLA committee—all is good. Jerry Healey passed away.

Carl Christenson—February 23rd is the candidate forum for the city election at Flintridge Prep at 7:00.

Linda Magarian—Nine of our members have guests today and 3 of them have become new members. She gave Susanne Passantino her new members pin.

Rolando Morales—Dr. Jackie Guzak who spoke about the Builder’s Club. There are 30 7th and 8th graders in the club. Savannah Stalin—president, Laurece Groupa—treasurer and ___________—secretary were there. They gave money to the Pasadena Humane Society this year.

Fred Schooley—gave $1000 for Ed Moulton’s appreciation day.

Jim Acklund—on his way to Kiwanis he almost hit a car and said some nasty things.

                                                                 

Nick Berkuta—Mary Ann was being a ‘grandma in training’ babysitting a 3 year old. She injured her back. And for Stuart Lee who gave him a ride to Kiwanis.

Pat Anderson—for Tom Slaughter who won the prize. Also for the AT & T store in the Town Center—they are working on it. Also for Sakura, the restaurant in the Town Center on the corner. They will open April 1st. They changed their minds on the interior. It will now be mahogany. And for the debut of the royal court.

                                                               

 

THE PROGRAM

Bill Watts introduced Jill Sayer—advisor who introduced the La Cañada Queen and her court. They included Queen Michelle Burrows, Princesses Christina Zdawczyk, Amanda Borland, Meghan Fitzpatrick, and Claire Irvine.  Jill is a member of the La Cañada Junior Women’s League. She said this year there were over 60 applicants and they had to choose 5. They do lots of appearances during the year. Bill gave them all Kiwanis mugs.
