THE PROGRAM
Robert Mehnert ,
Director and Cinematographer of documentaries films and
commercials, and author, is a professor of cinematography at Art
Center of Design, and resident of La Canada, was speaker. His
subject was The Super Secret SR-71 aircraft.

Speaker, Robert Mehnert
He told the
background of the aircraft, which covered the period of 1966 to
1990. In 1974 he conceived the idea of make a film of the
Lockheed aircraft, (which, at that time Dick DeGrey was Program
Manager). He described the SR-71, the worlds fastest, highest
flying plane, which was long a top secret, as a great part of
“the era of aviation”. A short film followed a descriptive
history and explanation of details. It was “slide ruler”
generated aircraft and not computer generated. Click on
