ANNOUNCEMENTS

On behalf of The La Cañada Kiwanis Board, Bill Scherkey asked that the club vote on a one-time $100 assessment per member to pay International-level dues.  International-level dues are paid annually each October. Currently, the club must borrow from the Foundation to pay these dues in advance of being collected from members.  The motion was voted upon and approved by a two-thirds majority of the members present.

This meeting was the final opportunity to collect donations for the Kiwanis Doctors Program for this year.  So far, donations exceed $2,100 for this program.

The La Cañada Kiwanis Installation Dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club beginning at 6 p.m.  Members can still sign up by contacting Paul Westmoreland.

Club members who signed up for the Men About Town event should provide their check for $125 to Paul Westmoreland by September 25th. This is a community-wide event sponsored by the LCF Chamber of Commerce that occurs every other year.

The La Cañada Kiwanis will celebrate 60 years of service at Octoberfest on Saturday, October 18th, at the La Cañada Thursday Club. The event will include a cash bar, dinner and entertainment.  The price is $51 per person.  Sign up by October 10th at the club meeting or by contacting Cory Stevens at corystevens@ymail.com.

THE PROGRAM

President’s Swan Song - Diane DellaValle ended her term as President by recognizing each Kiwanis member with a personal note of thanks along with a special memento.  Members were given an opportunity to “roast” Diane, but most chose to thank her for her outstanding leadership and to recognize her many contributions.
