ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bill Scherkey made the following special
announcement:
The Board of Directors has decided to put a
special one-time assessment up to the membership for vote. The
assessment is needed to keep the club fiscally sound,
Kiwanis International has decided to
collect dues on a one-time basis at the beginning of the fiscal
year, Oct. 1st. We collect dues on a monthly basis, so this
means that the full collection of dues is not complete until the
end of the year. The club has to pay the dues in advance. This
is about $100 per member on the books as of Oct. 1st.
The assessment to collect a year’s worth of dues as of Oct 1st
and then continue to collect on a monthly basis for the year.
This way will make the club financially sound. To date, we have
borrowed from the Foundation to stay in the black. This is a
bad practice.

This proposal requires a 2/3 vote of
approval from members present at a regular meeting. The vote is
expected to be taken at the Oct 17 meeting.
