Summary of Presentation:
Ty Ritter spoke of the objectives of Project Child Save
that is to develop and coordinate a computerized information
center from all child-help organizations regarding existing sex
crime cases. According to the Council of Europe, there are
current estimates of at least four million children are held
captive in sexual slavery today. He explained the network’s
ability to assist in a more efficient and rapid location and
recovery of missing and kidnapped children. Ty commended the
community of La Cañada for it’s over whelming support to Project
Child Save in money and in kind, to help the children (whose
experiences have been traumatic) to give them their life back.
Ty also commended the local newspaper, the Outlook for the
publicity that it has provided Project Child Save, to get help
and to reach out to caring people who support and donate to his
cause to stop Child Trafficking. He covered the importance of
getting the children out of the country of captivity; the
children’s medical treatment requirement and their need for
psychologists to help them (the children) recover from their
ordeal. He also elaborated on the cooperation provided by the US
Immigration and Naturalization (INS) in rating the different
countries. He also cited the support from the FBI, US Embassies
in different countries and the local authorities in the foreign
countries where they are forced to go in and take the children.
During the question and answer, Ty covered the upward trend in
statistics regarding missing children, citing that in Southern
California, the numbers of missing children without a trace is
around 400 annually and this year, the number could top 700.
Unattended children are easy to grab and worth a lot of money.
He further explained how easy it is to get them out as there is
no monitoring who is leaving the US, most of the children are
transported by boat out of Mexico and into South America. Ty
mentioned the sightings of Natalie Holloway and Amy Bradley;
stated that to date he has rescued 48 Children.
At the conclusion of the presentation, Ty Ritter was presented
with the Kiwanis “Collector” Mug.
