The Prez sez . .

Opening song: God Bless America led by Tom Burrows and Ed Moulton.

Flag Salute:  Joel Smith

Invocation/Inspirational:  Bill Scherkey

Thanks to Tom Burrows for our music and he has been asked to play at the Governor’s luncheon this Saturday.  Good for you Tom! Patsy Christianson will be doing the table decorations.

 Howard Backer said that starting in February, “The Kiwanis Doctor program will go in effect and the canisters in the middle of the tables will be for donations.

Daryal Gant and Linda Magarian announced that they have materials for new membership and George Lutes is working on a progress board.  A meeting will be held after today’s luncheon for all the committees.

Mary Gant was honored by the Chamber of Commerce as “second” Ambassador of the year and Bill Scherkey has been named a member of the board of the directors.

You can still attend the Governor’s luncheon this Saturday at La Cañada Country Club with $30 at the door.

Matt Regan passed out flyers giving a status of the 2007 Kiwanis Toy Drive Highlights.  As a club, we were able to raise over $1,000 for the toy drive and we sponsored a very needy family of a mother and two boys ages 9 and 16.

We are inadvertently embarrassing long absent members by naming them so they will remain anonymous and we will jus sing Welcome Back which is all we really want to do.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 According to Linda Magarian, the “Habitour” has been rescheduled for February 5th;

 Bachy made a final request for donations to the Children’s Hospital before the cans are changed to the Kiwanis Doctor program; Sheree Ingram announced that there is a sympathy card going around the room for Bob Wallace who’s son died recently.

John gave a wonderful slide show on his family’s “tree” and history, and how to trace your own roots using the web.  He even had an eight foot banner that one of his cousins did about their family.  Also included was two examples of obituaries of a famous horse thief/murderer that were totally different and creative.  He had flyers for all to use if curious about their “tree”.

Nick then gave the coveted Kiwanis mug to John.

Next week’s program will be an InterClub with the District Pediatric Trauma Program Foundation chair, Mr.Roy Talley.

Closing Song: “Come on Kiwanis” led by Ed Moulton and Tom Burrows.
