Our continued thanks to Tom Burrows for fabulous piano music
before the meeting.
Steve Hagerty
had the honor of the traditional “Passing of the Pins”
presentation. The Secretary pin was given to Bob Wallace:
Vice President to Nick Berkuta; President Elect to
Carl Christensen and the President’s pin was presented to
Diane DellaValle.
Diane
announced that new
Chairmen of either a Club or Foundation committee are requested
(if possible) to stay after the lunch for a short meeting. She
then welcomed Harriet Hammons back after some absences
and the group sang the “Welcome Back” song.
Birthdays:
Bob Wallace celebrated his birthday yesterday, 11/13 and
joined the Century Club.
Daryal Gant’s
birthday is today, 11/14 and since Mary is celebrating
her birthday next month, he joined the one-half Century
Club. A round of “Happy Birthday” followed.

– Children’s Hospital - please donate to the canisters on your
table; Ed Moulton was passing around a birthday card for
his wife, Connie; Mike Leininger announced that
the tree trimming at Glenola Park will be 11/29; Carl
Christensen said the next interclub meeting will be at the
high school with the Key Club on 11/29; Pam Feterl
reminded all that the second Travel Adventure is this Saturday
with a “romantic” program about Italy; Pat Anderson
announced that the Festival of Lights is 12/6 at Memorial Park
and to remember that the Chamber mixer is tomorrow night, 11/15
at the Community Center.

– Dick DeGrey is doing about the same; Jeb’s
daughter-in- law, Vikki is responding well to treatment;
Hal Thomas is doing OK; Jim Ackland is
recuperating from major surgery last week.
HAPPY BUCKS:
Carl Christensen
had a
great weekend with his sons, the flood damage in his house is
getting fixed and last night the City Planning approved a
project for his home;

Paul Westmoreland
was happy for USC over Cal and that he no longer is wearing a
bandage on his nose;
Mark Alexander
was also happy about USC’s win over Cal;

Melinda Thompson
is happy she doesn’t have to cook on Thanksgiving and she’s
looking forward to a trip to Vegas, is glad to see the Terrific
Kids and nice that Emily Bituin is visiting again;

Howard Backer
is glad that Missouri is doing so well and committed to future
pledges for future wins;

Lloyd
Welch was glad that Illinois beat Ohio State;

Karl Johnson
was thrilled to pass the responsibility of the recycling program
to Pam Feterl;

Tom Burrows
was glad that USC had to play Cal in bad weather since they just
might go to a Bowl game in inclement conditions;

Ken Lowe was
real happy that he survived the Key Club trip to Magic Mountain
and that Division 3 won the Spirit Award.

SAD BUCKS:
Elizibeth Georgeon
said that
flu season is here; Karl Johnson because he neither shook
the hand of the secret greeter or had his pin on; Pam Feterl
due to UCLA and the fact that she was late to this meeting;
  
Bill Watts
since we haven’t had time for a “Frosty Challenge” lately.

THE PROGRAM:

Bill Scherkey
introduced David Ford, of Southern California Edison, who
spoke about the status of the local delivery situation and SCE’s
role in Southern California,
especially La Cañada. He acknowledged the support of the mayor
and city manager and the Chamber of Commerce. David also
pledged that he will be assisting in the Soap Box Derby next
year. He then outlined plans for the future, discussed outages
and how we can help. Taking questions from the floor, he gave
informative answers, agreeing to stay after the meeting if
anyone has additional concerns.
Closing Music:
Tom Burrows and Ed Mouton leading us in “Come On
Kiwanis”.
