HAPPY & SAD BUCKS
First major sad buck
is from the editor: I forgot a couple of items last week and
with deepest apologies I would like to acknowledged that Kiwanis
donated $1000 to the San Gabriel Habit for Humanity to Deane
Winant and some really neat old songs from Kiwanis and the
Presbyterian church was played by Rudy Beem. Any time
there is a correction to the newsletter, please let me know at
818 248-9130 or e-mail me at
SIngram520@aol.com.
Pat Anderson
announced a couple of “Business Bucks”…a ribbon cutting I
approaching for a new business called “Fancy That” and Ralph’s
at the east end will be under remodeling in 6-8 months.

Jack Dawson
had a happy/sad buck that Barbara told him that the clock
he received at the auction last week didn’t go with the rest of
the “motive” of the house so Bea Cirar kindly
bought it from him.
Nick
had happy bucks for Mary Ann being here today and that
their son, Nick, just returned from the fire lines in
Malibu feeling great and very tired;

Nick Berkuta
Mary Ann Berkuta
Daryal
said that Bachy called him and alerted him to a line of
fire trucks on TV which were all red except one – it was a white
one from DINUBA!

Daryl
Happy bucks from
Paul for USC’s win and the fact that even though Daryal
had reported a couple of weeks ago that when he (Paul)
was on the football team at the famous Dinuba High School they
didn’t have any wins, well they did – TWO.

Paul
Ellie Wildermuth went to the
Ohio State homecoming game. She was Ohio State's
Homecoming Queen in 1952 and was honored at the ceremony. She also

THE PROGRAM:
Nick introduced Judy Tejeda from the Crescenta Valley Water
district and gave her extensive background. Also with Judy were
Christy Scott and Brook Yared who assisted with the slide
presentation of our current drought situation. Crescenta Valley
Water District was established in the 1950s. (were you born
then?) It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to know that we have a
major problem here in Southern California. There are ways to
conserve water if we take the time and action to do so: turn off
the faucet while brushing your teeth; don’t take loonnnng
showers; if you wash your car, don’t just let the water run;
make sure your washer and dishwasher are filled to capacity; low
flowing toilets and showerheads are available also – this is all
common sense but we need to start now! Plus you’ll save money.
If we don’t have a decent rain season it make lead to rationing
next year. This doesn’t just apply to CVWD but all of Southern
California. Do what you can do – it will help us all. The
coveted Kiwanis mug was presented and Judy signed the book of
the week.
