THE PROGRAM:  ONE CITY – ONE BOOK

Nick Berkuta introduced Susan Partamian of Trifles and Sue Renyer of the LCF Library to present this year’s selection for the “One City, One Book” program which takes readers on the road with Gonzalez & Daughter, Trucking Company.  Maria Amparo Escandon writes about her life, traveling throughout the United States with her father in a truck.  Sue gave the background of the program which Laura Olhasso brought to La Cañada in 2004, plus a biography of the author.  Susan then explained how this book was chosen out of 29 suggestions submitted to the committee of 15 members.  On Sunday, Oct. 21st, from 3 to  5 P.M., the La Cañada Unified School District board meeting room, located at 4490 Cornishon Avenue, will be transformed into a truck stop for the Meet-the-Author Event where local author, Mark Salzman, will talk with Ms. Escandon about the novel and about her life.  Susan also donated a happy buck as she “smells basketball in the air”.  They were each presented with the coveted Kiwanis mug and signed this week’s book for the reading program.
