2006 Installation Dinner at Oakmount Country
Club
The Prez
sez . . .

Prez Steve
Hagerty
welcomed the dinner crowd and said he knew
everyone was attending the dinner meeting to celebrate Diane
DellaValle's installation and not his own de-installation.
There was a round of applause for Tom Burrows who
entertained us before dinner with his lovely piano music. Then
the Prez had song director Ed Moulton lead us in
God Bless America (while standing on a chair). Nick
Berkuta didn't need to stand on a chair as he led us in the
Pledge of Allegiance. He was followed by Frosty Boyd
whose invocation was a lovely charge to everyone in the club for
our new Kiwanis year. At that point, Prez Steve turned
the meeting over to the Master of Ceremonies, Joel Smith.
Joel did a great job introducing those
seated at the head table and the many guests (too numerous to
mention and a great tribute to both Prez Steve and
incoming Prez Diane). Joel then turned the
meeting back to Prez Steve who made two very special
presentations.

Although every new member was a winner in
Steve's estimation, his choice for Rookie of the Year
was Gigi Schlueter. Gigi had barely
joined the club in 2006 when she took over the Silent Auction
for the Wine and Gourmet Food Tasting. The Prez noted
that Gigi's hubby, Jim, is always helping - making
her a two-member team.

The Gil Smith Award went
to someone who the Prez described as usually flying under
the radar but very involved in almost every Club activity since
he joined our Club ten years ago. The audience agreed that
Carl Christensen was a great choice for the Gil Smith
Award.
Division Lt. Governor Daryal Gant
de-installed the 2006-2007 officers and directors, and there
were some audible sighs of relief. Then incoming Lt.
Governor Harry Hull installed our 2007-2008 Board:

Club Directors
Newly installed Prez Diane gave a
gracious acceptance speech and reminded us about the breadth and
depth of our Kiwanis organization.

Diane's acceptance speech
Steve Hagerty gave
Diane his best wishes, some advice (keep your eye on your
gavel), and an apology (he was still looking for his gavel so he
could pass it on to her). After being presented with a large
beautiful bouquet, Diane acknowledged the love and
support she receives from her family and presented rose bouquets
to her daughter, her daughter-in-law and her granddaughter.

Diane and her family
Immediate Past President Paul Westmoreland
was thanked for planning such a lovely evening, and we all
headed toward home after singing Hail Kiwanis.
