The Immediate Past Prez sez .
. .
P aul
Westmoreland announced he was staging a coup since all our
"in line" officers were out of town. IPPrez Paul did a
great job leading the meeting, and actually owed Prez Steve
a favor or two for all the meetings Steve led last
year when Paul was out of town.
An election was next on the agenda. Gigi
Schleuter was voted in as a Board Director and Bob
Wallace was elected Secretary for the 2007-2008 Kiwanis
year.
IPPrez Paul then welcomed back Paul
Bobzin, Pete Palermo, Pam Feterl and Dave Spence.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mary Gant read off an impressive list
of additional restaurants that have signed up for the Wine and
Gourmet Food Tasting event since last week. She also has
postcards and posters.
Sheree Ingram is shaking out
advertisers for the Wine and Gourmet Food Tasting program.
Bachy reminded us to contribute to
Children's Hospital.
Bill Scherkey has all the extra
tickets you need for the Wine and Gourmet Food Tasting.
Gig Schleuter is looking for donations
for the Silent Auction.
SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP PRESENTATIONS
Bob Wallace inducted new member
Greg Powell who was sponsored by Daryal Gant. Since
Daryal was out of town, Mary substituted for him
and told us about Greg's beginnings. Greg grew up
in Glendale, graduated from Glendale HS and went on to Cal Poly
Pomona and majored in architecture. He worked for a while in
Colorado but came "home" and opened an office in La Caņada.
Greg received his New Member badge and packet of
instructions, and then we sang Your In Kiwanis Now.

Greg Powell, Bob Wallace, and Mary Gant
Pam Feterl received recognition next
as Bob presented her with a pemanent badge. Bob
also congratulated Pam for already agreeing to be Chair
of the Travelogue Committee.

Bob and Pam Feteri
THE PROGRAM
Bob Wallace took a wonderful trip to
Normandie and shared his impressions of the area, his beautiful
slides, and the history of that area of France. He could do one
of our Travelogues!
HAPPY & SAD BUCKS
Jack Dawson had a Happy Welcome
Buck for new permanent member Pam Feterl.
Jack recommended everyone should use Pam's services
... as a Travel Agent. His second Happy Buck was
for Paul Bobzin who put new tires on our barbeque wagon
and donated the tires. If you don't go to Paul for your
tires, you are missing the boat! Jack's final
Happy Buck was for Pete Palermo, a dedicated
attorney who went all the way to France to provide legal
services to Jack's brother.

Jack Dawson
Pete Palermo had a Happy Buck
because Jack's brother took him out to dinner
while he was in France.

Pete Palermo
Tom Burrows had five Happy
Bucks because his grandson just returned from Italy
where he was studying the architecture.

Tom Burrows
Mary Gant gave five Happy Bucks
for new member Greg Powell and new permanent
member Pam Feterl. She had another Happy Buck
because Allen Perry got another restaurant to sign up
for the Wine and Gourmet Food Tasting event.

Mary Gant
Glen Pettit talked about the Dinuba
Kiwanis and then had five Happy Bucks to celebrate
the 50th anniversary of his business.

Glen Pettit
Paul Westmoreland thought that having
someone new talk about Dinuba was worth a Happy Buck.
Clyde Hemphill apparently kept
stopping by to encourage Paul Bobzin to attend a meeting,
and he had a Happy Buck that Paul was
finally here.

Clyde Hemphill
Sheree Ingram had a Happy Buck
because Jack Dawson finally wore his Kiwanis pin.

Sheree Ingram
John Landrum and Diane spent a
wonderful week in the wine country. Coming home, they saw
Dinuba on the map, and John gave a Happy Buck
because they drove right by.

John Landrum
Howard Backer had a Mixed
Emotions Buck. His wife, Rhoda, is a Johnny Depp
fan and they have Johnny Depp memorabilia all around the house.
If you go to Howard's house ... be careful! You may have a Near
Depp Experience.

Howard Backer
Bob Martin spent fifteen hours at
Disneyland with his grandchildren and had Happy Bucks
for surviving.
