President Steve Hagerty and President Elect Diane DellaValle were both out of town, so VP Carl Christensen led the meeting.  He invited Mike Leininger up front to make a presentation.  Mike talked about Kiwanis One Day where 40 volunteers from the LCHS Key Club spent a Saturday working on beautification projects at the high school campus.  Mike presented the Key Club with a Kiwanis One Day patch for their Key Club banner.

Steve Hagerty, Jack Dawson and  Chuck Gulick are shown in the following picture serving hamburgers to local La Caņada folks in Memorial Park on Memorial day.

Ken Lowe then introduced four members of the LCHS Key Club and they told us about their weekend activities.  In addition to volunteering at Memorial Park on both Saturday and Sunday, on Monday the Key Clubbers hung Soap Box Derby posters along Foothill Blvd.  These kids are great!!!

HAPPY & SAD BUCKS

Mark Alexander had five Fiesta Days Happy Bucks:  one for Pat Anderson, Stephanie and Star at the Chamber of Commerce who worked so hard to make our Fiesta Days such an outstanding success, one for the Chamber volunteers, one for the corporate sponsors of the fireworks, one for the public safety agencies, and the final Happy Buck for the LCF city staff.

Clyde Hemphill said being one of the Grand Marshalls of the Fiesta Days parade was one of the highlights of his life and worth twenty Happy Bucks.

Daryal Gant gave a Sad Buck because Joanne Hudson didn't attend the Dinuba High School reunion last week and Paul didn't get to see her.  Daryal had a Happy Buck because almost 800 people showed up for the reunion and it was a lot of fun.  His Funny Buck was for the car that cruised past them on Interstate 5 on their way to Dinuba.  The license plate was "KGov 07."  Daryal and Mary sped up to see who was in the car and recognized the Cal-Nev-Ha Kiwanis governor who waved back at Daryal as if he knew Daryal and then sped on.

Paul Westmoreland had a Sad Buck because Joanne Hudson wasn't at the reunion, but he had a Happy Buck because he had a picture of her from high school ... posing with her favorite tiger, Daryal Gant.  Paul passed the picture around to the amusement of all.

Howard Backer had four Sad Bucks because the Community Center was renamed.

Linda Magarian had two Happy Bucks.  She had a fabulous trip to Australia and was even able to go down into an opal mine.  Also, her foot is continuing to heal.

Tom Burrows was very happy to be back and wanted everyone to know his final diagnosis.  A new heart medication triggered chronic fatigue syndrome, but now that the medication has been changed he is beginning to feel like himself again.  That was worth at least five Happy Bucks.

Mary Gant's Fiesta Days Happy Bucks were for Mike Leininger and his hard work organizing and running the Hamburger Stand at Memorial Park on Monday and for Clyde Hemphill who deserved the honor of Grand Marshall.

Bill Watts had a Happy Buck for Tom Burrow's return and another Happy Buck because the lunch napkins were cloth and normal size again.
