The Prez sez . . .

Prez Steve Hagerty opened the meeting with a hearty Welcome Everyone!

Prez Steve introduced Bob Wallace who conducted an Induction Ceremony on behalf of our newest member, Don VossDaryal Gant gave us an overview of Don's background, but left the details for Don to share with us when he does his Craft Talk.  We now have two members who graduated from Rutgers University, Clyde Hemphill and Don.

Prez Steve welcomed back Tom Gilfoy and Norm Johnson.

The Prez say's that he is working on solving our parking problems and expects to have everything back to normal within two weeks.  Do you think he knows something we don't know?

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Diane DellaValle reminded everyone about the opportunity on Wednesday, May 30 to not only take care of your interclub requirement but also hear Carl Christensen talk on China by attending the AM Club meeting.

Jim Ackland was filling in for Frosty and gave the SLA report, as follows: Jim thanked Norm Johnson for picking up Ed Moulton and bringing him to the meeting.  Tom Burrows is having a hard time with Depression.  Lloyd Welch's eye problems do not seem to be improving.  Jeb Long's stepdaughter is fighting cancer.  Paul Bobzin's son is ill.

Bachy reminded all of us to place a contribution in the cans on each table for Children's Hospital.

Bill Watts is working on selling ad's for the Soap Box Derby program.  You can place a credit card size ad for only $50 and say anything you wish.

Carl Christensen reminded us of the next few programs.  Next week we will get an up date on how our donations are being spent at the orphanages in Bulgaria.

Joel Smith reminded everyone about the many opportunities to help out with the Soap Box Derby.  There will be sign-up sheets passed around in the next few weeks.

THE PROGRAM

Prez Steve presented the program for today, and he took the opportunity for everyone to learn more about each other.  Steve had prepared topics that selected members could chose to reveal information and facts about themselves.  Some of the topics were "tell about an embarrassing moment in your life," "your worst job as a teenager," "best and worst vacation," "best day of your life," and "give a mini craft talk."  This was a very creative, informative and fun program.

HAPPY & SAD BUCKS

Harriet Hammons jumped the gun on the Prez with her Happy Buck for Linda Magarian who is on vacation in Australia.  She had a second Happy Buck for the Key Clubbers who will be helping the Chamber and our Kiwanis Club during Fiesta Days

.

Mary Gant had a Sad Buck for the Wine Tasting that she and Daryal attended last weekend.

Doris Horwith had a Sad Buck for the power outage in La Caņada this morning.  She had to have someone pick her up to go to work.  I am guessing that she couldn't open her garage door to get to her car.

Gigi Schlueter had a Sad Buck for a good friend who was in intensive care due to a snake bite.

Bea Cirar had a very Happy Buck for her third grandchild, a boy born last Saturday.

Howard Backer had a Happy Buck for all his grandkids who visited him last weekend.

Daryal Gant, acting as a spokes person for Dinuba, had a Happy Buck for the highlight of a two-week stay in town ... and that would be a tour of the Packing Shed.

Jim Ackland had a Happy Buck for getting our parking spots back by next Wednesday.

Ed Moulton had a fall down a cement stairs about one month ago, and received several bad bruises.  He had a Happy Buck for being back and feeling much better.

Tom Gilfoy had a Happy Buck for attendance at the Show Case and the Market Place out on the green at Descanso.  The money they raise goes to Music Education programs and the Pasadena Symphony.  Based on sales to date it is estimated that the Market Place will raise over two million.  Great Job!

Norm Johnson had one Sad and two Happy Bucks - one Sad Buck for missing the last three weeks, one Happy Buck for being back, and one for having Ed Moulton as a co-pilot.

Clyde Hemphill had a Happy Buck for he and Don Voss for having attended Rutgers University.
