The Prez sez . . .

The Prez started with a Question . . .

Who came the furthest from their parked car?

One member (I didn't catch the name) parked on the street and hiked in.  Due to the opening of the Pasadena Showcase House of Design at the Boddy House, parking was at a premium and even the  overflow parking lot was full.

The Prez introduced Paul Westmoreland who introduced the slate of officers and directors for 2007/2008.  The following slate was unanimously approved!

Officers - 2007-2008

Diane DellaValle, President

                         Carl Christensen, President Elect

                         Nick Berkuta, Vice President

Directors - Term 2007-2009

                        Clyde Hemphill

                        Linda Magarian

                        Fred Schooley

                        Norm Johnson

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Joel Smith is looking for a few good women and men to help stuff envelopes for a Soap Box Derby mailing.  Wine will be served!  Joel knows how to plan a work party.

Diane DellaValle gave the SLA report for Frosty who was unable to find a parking place in the handicapped area.  He called Diane on his cell phone to give her the report data, as follows:

  • Patsy Christianson had surgery on her hip, and is doing fine.  She is still in the hospital.

  • Dick DeGrey would still like to receive phone calls from members.

  • The Ragazzi's are doing fine.

  • Hal Thomas and Julia are settling in and adjusting to their new living quarters.

Mary Gant reminded everyone about the Tournament of Roses annual Bingo Barbeque on Saturday, May 5.  This is also the date of our next Travel Adventure.  Choices are endless!

Jim Ackland announced the sale of ad's for the Soap Box Derby program.  Members can put in a Business Card size ad, or larger.  Get in touch with Bill Watts if you are interested.

Bachy reminded all of us of the importance of placing bills and coins in the Children's Hospital cans on your table.

THE PROGRAM

Paul Kiehl, from the City of Glendale gave a talk on "Passports and Fingerprints."  His assistant, Veronika Padeon, who Paul says pretty much runs the Passport/Fingerprint office, joined Paul.  The City of Glendale set up the department to assist individuals with passports and to generate revenue for the city.  Paul covered all of the aspects of applying for a passport, including renewals.  Great information.
