The Prez sez . . .   

 

President Steve gave everyone a gentle reminder of the Board meeting on Thursday evening, April 5, at 7:00 pm in the CitiBank Conference room located at 742 Foothill Blvd in La Cañada.  Everyone is welcome.

 

 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Linda Magarian announced the Literacy Project will be presenting reading awards to deserving students next Wednesday April 11.  Club members are invited to join the party.  Meet in the Descanso Gardens parking lot at 9:30 am to join the car pool.

Pat Anderson announced that the Grand Marshall of the Fiesta Days Parade will honor community volunteers. Two of the four honorees are members of our Club, Clyde Hemphill and Dave Spence

Pat also announced that the next Chamber Mixer will be at La Cañada High School at 5:00 pm on  Thursday April 19.  Note the earlier start time.

Diane DellaValle announced the next Interclub will be on April 10 with the Sunland-Tujunga Club.  The meeting will be at Joselito’s West, located at 7308 Foothill Blvd.  The meeting starts at 6:00 pm. 

Bachy asked everyone to remember to use the colorful cans on the table and contribute to Children’s Hospital.

Mary Gant announced the Bingo Barbeque, an annual fund raiser for the LCFTRA, will be on May 5.  Mary also announced a fund raiser for Ty Ritter. It is a Golf Tournament on May 21st at the LCF Country Club.

Carl Christensen announced next weeks program will be Dr & Mrs Wayne Hoeft of the Hollywood/Los Feliz Club talking about Romanian Orphanages.

Frosty Boyd brought us up to date on our ailing members.

THE PROGRAM

Jeff Runyon discussed some of the basics of developing investment strategies. 

HAPPY & SAD BUCKS

Tom Slaughter had a happy $5 for getting stated on Physical Therapy for his shoulder which he had broken in January.

Pat Anderson had a happy $5 for the announcement of the four Grand Marshalls for the Fiesta Days Parade.

 

Mary Gant had a sad $2 for her own reasons.

Paul Westoreland had a sad $2 for UCLA  and Ohio State’s losses in the NCAA final four.  

Ellie Wildermuth added two happy bucks because the teams got as for as they did in the tournament.

Anthony Portantino gave a sad buck for missing the Club’s trip to Sacramento and a chance to do an interclub.

FACTS AND FICTION

Opening: flag salute by Ellie Wildermuth   and the inspirational message by Diane Landrum
