The Prez sez . . .   

 

Welcome to new member Pam Epedrl.

 

 

 

 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Clyde Hemphill announced for Joel Smith (who is in Italy): The Soap Box Derby is coming. We have inherited 16 cars. He’d like to loan them to disadvantaged kids. If you know anyone who fits that description, let Joel know.

Bachy Bachmayer asked us to put money in the canisters on the tables for Children’s Hospital.

Pat Anderson announced the next Chamber mixer will be at LCHS on April 19th.

 

Randy mentioned a cruise that is a fund raiser. It is September 15th. He has flyers at the station.

Jeanette from the San Fernando Kiwanis announced their big fund raiser. It is Casino night on May 19th. There will be a poker tournament and casino games. She has flyers.

Anthony Renaldi announced that Pierce College is having its Cow Chip Bingo as a fund raiser for its agricultural program. Tickets are $5 each. He has flyers.

Harriet Hammons announced the Annual Big Strike auction for the Verdugo Hills BSA, Linda Magarian is holding an awards ceremony for the children at Union Avenue on April 11th, and next weeks speaker will be Carlana Stone.

Frosty Boyd gave the SLA report. Lloyd Welch is healing well and his morale is improves. Tom Slaughter is healing well. Linda Magarian is healing well but it is difficult for her to walk.

 

SPECIAL PRESENTATION

Pat Flynn introduced five terrific kids from Palm Crest Elementary and spoke of their numerous accomplishments. They were Joshua Carter, Emma Angol, Kyle Bartholomew, Madeline Brown and Joan Yim. He also introduced their parents and grandparents.

Ken Lowe introduced two members of the LCHS Key Club. They were Michelle Lee and Caroline Ku. He mentioned the Total K Day last Saturday.

 

THE PROGRAM

George Pennacchio from ABC entertainment news gave a very enjoyable talk.

 

HAPPY & SAD BUCKS

Mary Gant gave happy bucks for going to Sacramento, seeing Anthony Portantino in his office and getting a tour, and having Daryal’s best friend and his wife to visit.

Pat Anderson announced that Beverly de Lucia has a new computer program to allow you to see what your art will look like framed before it is done, Dave Spence will be mayor next Monday, mayor pro-tem is Steve Del Guercio.

Ellie Wildermuth gave happy bucks for Ohio State vs. UCLA

Tom Burrows gave happy bucks for passing his stress test.

Carl Christensen gave happy bucks for going to Telluride last week and says it’s gorgeous.

FACTS AND FICTION

Harriet Hammons welcomed Beverly de Lucia from Fast Frame in LC by Blockbuster. She brought her daughter Alexis with her. Alexis is a girl scout who is working on selling cookies to the military. The project is called “Gift of Caring”. She requests donations for this project. Beverly helps host families to come to LCF for three weeks.

Diane del Valle welcomed Anthony Renaldi who is the president of the Tarzana Kiwanis.

Carl Johnson welcomed Bill Hackett, representative for Anthony Portantino.

Ed Moulton let us in a rousing rendition of ‘Hi Neighbor’.
