The
Jewel City Kiwanis Club is holding their 13th Annual Classic Car
& Hot Rod Show at Verdugo Park,, 1621 Canada Blvd., from 10am to
3:30pm on Sunday, March 19,
2006.
Thanks to our President Elect for filling in for me while I was
gone!
Who
knows what day it is? Following a bit of deliberation, someone
finally guessed St. Patrick's Day. The Prez said that anyone
who did not have green on owed the pot a buck. A few members
attempted to establish that St. Patrick's Day was really Friday,
the 17th, but the fine remained in force. Everyone who did not
have green on paid up.
Next week: Flag Salute by Mary Gant, and Invocation by

Harriet
Hammons - Plans are underway for our Annual Summer Social on
Sunday, August 27th at the home of Paul and Beverly Toffel.
More info. to follow.

Hammons - Asked members to sigh the books on the back table.
They will be presented to the elementary school where Ken Lowe's
daughter is the principal.

DellaValle - Comming programs - Next week will be Mayor Anthony
Portantino will give the State of the City update. On March
29th Hal Crockett's daughter will be the presenter.
Mike
Leininger reminded everyone about the plans for Total K Day
scheduled for this Saturday, March 18.

Anderson - On March 23rd the developers of the La Cañada
Properties development project will hold a public meeting at
Descanso Gardens, at 7pm.

Anderson reminded everyone to attend the Chamber Mixer to be
held at Wells Fargo Bank on Thursday, March 16, at 6pm.
Joel
Smith announced that Deborah Weirick will be selling tickets for
$20 to drive one of the celebrity race cars in a special race on
Soap Box Derby Day.
Bachy
Bachmayer reminded everyone to contribute what they can in the
tubs on your table for Children's Hospital.
Ken Lowe
reminder of the LCHS Key Club fund raiser at Round Table Pizza.
THE PROGRAM
Our
program today was a presentation from the Glendale Humane
Society. The speaker, Alyce Russell, is a member of the Board
of Directors, and a long time volunteer. Alyce was accompanied
by the Executive Director, Sara Zleasin.

gave a brief overview of the organizations 85 year history, and
the current operations. She presented a video staring several
of the dogs and cats that are currently residing at the Shelter.

Fifty-Fifty Drawing: Roy Allman, Kiwanis Club of

Kiwanis Defining Statement Challenge: Al Perry, Jr. was the
first name pulled from the jar, and he immediately offered to
pay $2 to have Joel Peterson do it for him. Joel did not get it
right. Al dicided to give it a try, and missed. Linda Magarian
saved the day by doing a perfect job.
