THE PROGRAM:

Today Program was presented by Dr. Al Restivo the founder of Oaktree specializes in Executive and Management Coaching and provide leadership team building, and conflict intervention/resolution through goal setting and behavior change coaching. Dr. Al Restivo started Oaktree Associates, Inc. in 1992. Oaktree is a highly regarded consulting and coaching firm, focused on increasing productivity and success in organizations through the growth and development of its people.

Dr. Restivo has experienced an interesting and varied career which provides him with special insights into leadership characteristics, skills, proclivities and talents. His experience in the field of leadership and leadership development includes his role as an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University and Cal State University, Los Angeles. From 1996 to 2002 he served as a professor at the Southern California campuses of the University of Phoenix where he taught organizational behavior at the undergraduate and graduate levels, organizational communication, marketing, management, supervision and leadership, interpersonal relationship skills, critical thinking and decision making, and marketing.  A training and organizational development professional with over 30 years of experience, Dr. Restivo served as Corporate Director of Training for Avery Dennison Corporation where he was responsible for the training and development of over 15,000 employees worldwide for the $6 billion international company.

An educational leader, he served on the Eastchester New York Board of Education and the Eastchester Library Board. He also served as an adjunct professor at Westchester College (SUNY) where he was also chairperson of two key curriculum advisory boards: business and public service.

A father of two, and U.S. Air Force veteran, Dr. Restivo is active in his church and community. He has been a member of Kiwanis for over 35 years, serving as president of the Eastchester, N.Y. club  in 1981-82 and has chaired the community services and spiritual aims committees of the Kiwanis Club of La Canada. He has been a civic volunteer and active in the political process for over 30 years. He was the founder and Executive Director of the Ecumenical Ministerial Association of La Canada Flintridge.  He serves as a Eucharistic Minister at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles in Los Angeles.

He led the program on Conflict Resolution today. Conflict affects job performance, employee productivity, job satisfaction, and employee attendance. Conflict reduces group cohesiveness and diminishes the ability of people to work together. Unresolved conflict hampers group performance, causing people in conflict to avoid communicating. Quarreling and conflict diminish decision making; groups that are in conflict cannot effectively make productive decisions. Ongoing and unresolved conflict displaces energy from productive goals and causes neglect of productive pursuits. Oaktree brings an organization back into alignment. Their skilled Conflict Intervention Team has the experience, skill, and tools to help organizations resolve conflicts and reduce the negative consequences typically associated with dysfunctional situations. The benefits of Conflict Resolution are Reduced stress and the resulting cost of lost work, lessened productivity, and stakeholder burnout. Minimizes the stress, anger and frustration that is the outcome of conflict between people and groups. Improves communication and collaboration among individuals and teams. Prevents costly litigation.
